Combating the Opioid Crisis
In 2016, opioid overdoses accounted for more than 42,000 deaths, 45% of which involved a prescription opioid. Consequences of the epidemic include increases in opioid misuse and related overdoses, as well as the rising incidences of newborns experiencing withdrawal syndrome.
