In 2016, opioid overdoses accounted for more than 42,000 deaths, 45% of which involved a prescription opioid. Consequences of the epidemic include increases in opioid misuse and related overdoses, as well as the rising incidences of newborns experiencing withdrawal syndrome. Come hear from the 20th Surgeon General of the United States, Jerome M. Adams, on the federal response to the opioid epidemic.

Additionally, hear from Kathy Lane, Senior Director of Public Relations speak about the National Safety Council’s collaborative project with Energy BBDO to honor those who died and raise awareness about the crisis, the Prescribed to Death memorial.
