Instructor Bio

Steve Edwards is a Managing Director in the Connected Leadership Practice at Koya Partners, an executive search and leadership advisory firm focused on identifying and strengthening leaders across sectors. Edwards is a member of the teaching faculty of the University of Chicago’s Civic Leadership Academy, where he teaches sessions on executive presence, authentic leadership and active listening.

Previously, Edwards spent nearly 20 years as an award-winning journalist, interviewer and program host. As a journalist, his work has appeared on the BBC, Bloomberg News, PBS and numerous public radio stations around the United States. He is also the recipient of numerous journalism honors, including the Grand Award from the National Headliner Club, the RTNDA’s Edward R. Murrow Award, as well as awards from The Associated Press, the National Association of Black Journalists, the Society of Professional Journalists, and UPI, among others.

Edwards earned his B.A. in political science from Amherst College and was a Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan.
