More than 200,000 service people leave the military each year and 94 percent of them look for a job, according to HR Dive. A recent study from Monster and military.com found that jobs at companies providing information technology and security services are a good fit for U.S. military veterans, with more than half of the top 10 employers of former military personnel falling into those categories. However, more than half of the veterans surveyed say that they do not believe recruiters and human resource professionals understand their military skills. Veterans also say they want to work at companies that have a track record of hiring veterans, employ recruiters who are veterans, offer on-boarding programs specifically designed for veterans, and provide support groups for employed veterans. Monster says that the companies making its list of best employers for former military personnel were selected for their “extraordinary success” in veteran hiring and retention. Topping the list was ManTech, a company that provides solutions in cybersecurity, big data analytics, enterprise IT and systems engineering, followed by CACI International Inc., which produces information solutions and services in support of national security. Third on the list was U.S. Customs and Border Protection, followed by Booz Allen Hamilton, a management and information technology consulting firm. Rounding out the top five was Lockheed Martin Corporation, the global aerospace, defense, security and advanced technologies company. View the entire list here.
