The Executives’ Club of Chicago is Chicago’s premier membership organization and business forum. For more than one hundred years, the Exec Club has been a valued resource for Chicago’s business leaders – connecting members, providing opportunities for strategic relationship development, access to intellectual exchange and world-class speakers, and enhanced exposure to the broader business community.

Through our Signature Series programs, Summits, leadership development, and member events, we bring together business, civic and academic leaders from all industries to discuss issues and opportunities affecting business in Chicago and the world.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Content Manager is primarily responsible for the effective oversight and coordination of the content for the Exec Club’s Summits and “Executives’ Exchange” podcast. Summits are comprised of members from diverse industries whose interests represent specific corporate functional areas or areas of specialization. This position will play a key role in the execution of content for 15-20 events per year. The podcast releases about 15 episodes a year and the Content Manager will be instrumental in curating this content stream.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Summit Editorial

  • Develop and maintain the Exec Club’s Summit Calendar, including creating content, event descriptions, speakers and other content related tasks across all Summits, utilizing the Chief Content and Communications Officer as a thought partner when necessary
  • Lead the orientation of new co-chairs
  • Develop and manage relationships with each of the Summit co-chairs
  • Staff all Summit events
  • Look at status quo process to improve speaker relations
  • Develop program descriptions, story arcs and questions for panel and fireside chat discussions
  • Write post event & pre-event emails for summit attendees

Podcast

  • Develop and maintain the Exec Club’s podcast editorial calendar, including creating story arcs and questions for the podcast episodes, utilizing the Chief Content and Communications Officer as a thought partner when necessary
  • Create a tracker of potential guests
  • Staff all podcast recordings
  • Work with Senior Digital Communications Manager to ensure promotional emails are scheduled and created for the podcast

Summit & Podcast Marketing

  • Develop and update collateral materials for all Summit events including but not limited to one-sheets, invites, brochures and signage
  • Assist in promoting Summit and their co-chairs through items in the Exec Club’s newsletter, social media, and other marketing vehicles
  • Collaborate with the communications and marketing team for all Summit & Podcast related material and event updates on the website
  • Draft social media posts for Podcasts and Summits
  • Write insight pieces for an end of the year marketing document

Signature Series Support

  • Craft interview guides and program descriptions as needed

  • You know how to build and maintain relationships to achieve organizational goals.
  • You are comfortable corresponding with C-Suite executives and their assistants.
  • You are naturally an organized person.
  • You are a team player. You want everyone on the team to succeed and go the extra mile to ensure you are helping everyone do their job to the best of their ability.
  • You are not a wallflower. During our live events, we expect all our staff, especially this role, to interact with our members and guests and make everyone feel comfortable and welcome.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Four-year degree or equivalent practical experience required; experience working with structured groups within a corporation, non-profit organization, association, or trade group preferred
  • Event planning experience is a plus
  • Highly effective organizer with outstanding attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be database savvy
  • Inquisitive and interested in keeping abreast of current events on the local, national, and global scene
  • Ability to interface with all levels of clients including C-suite corporate executives
  • Self-starter who is able to handle multiple projects in varying stages of development and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in MS Office and Internet search tools and have knowledge of NetForum CRM or other membership database software
  • Candidate must be available for program set up as early as 6:00 a.m. and evening receptions, which last until 8:00 p.m.
