In June, Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed legislation that will legalize marijuana in 2020 and overhaul the way government treats the drug and its use. The law provides for automatic expungement of arrests for marijuana possession under 30 grams, and Pritzker said he will pardon those with convictions for possession up to 30 grams. It also opens up a new market for a rapidly growing cannabis industry that remains something of a Wild West, with private equity buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, and large infusions of venture capital seemingly announced weekly.

We'll talk with some key players in the industry nationally and locally about what these changes mean. The event will feature Chris Walsh, founding editor of Marijuana Business Daily; State Rep. Kelly Cassidy, who helped usher legalization through the legislature; Wanda James, CEO & founder of Simply Pure and the first African American woman to own a dispensary in Colorado; Mitch Kahn, a Chicagoan whose cannabis business was just acquired for $875 million; and Stormy Simon, a Marijuana Advocate & Investor.
