Chicago's Corporate Coalition: Businesses Working Together to Address Longstanding Inequities
Date: Wednesday, September 30, 2020
Time: 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. CDT
Location: GoToWebinar (link provided with registration)
Chicago’s business community is proud of its long history of investing in the public good, yet opportunity still plummets in communities south and west of the Loop. This year, a global pandemic and economic crisis have magnified inequities across the region and mass demonstrations over centuries of systemic racism have made injustices more evident than ever. More than 30 of Chicago’s leading companies have come together to address long-standing economic inequities by looking at their own internal business functions –hiring, promoting, site selection, procurement and financial investing –to collectively support south and west side neighborhoods and residents.
Join panelists Samir Mayekar, Curtis Reed, Audrey Williams-Lee, along with moderator Brian Fabes, to learn why these leaders believe work begins in their own backyards and how they are working together to support change at a scale that can make a difference in economic inequities in Chicago.
